Coaching with George Westlake

Build a life that feels like your own.

If something feels off, but you can’t quite explain why, you’re not alone.

Together, we’ll better understand you, the world you’re living in, and what’s happening between the two - so you can understand what’s really going on before deciding what comes next.

Start where you are

Who this is for

You keep coming back to the same questions.

Maybe you’ve done many of the things you thought you were supposed to do. You’ve worked hard, made sensible choices and built a life that, on paper, should feel good.

But something no longer quite fits. You may not have a clear problem to solve or know what needs to change. You may simply find yourself returning to questions like these.

Why do I feel like this?

Is this it?

Why does this keep happening?

Who am I trying so hard to be?

How much of my life have I actually chosen?

What if I don’t want what I’m supposed to want?

Why do I struggle to relax, even when there’s nothing to do?

Sometimes a question that won’t leave you alone is enough of a place to begin.

“I’ve trained thousands of coaches, and you’re one of the most gifted I’ve ever come across.”

How I work

Before we rush to answers, we slow down.

It can be tempting to respond to discomfort by immediately looking for a solution: changing jobs, moving somewhere new, ending a relationship or trying to become a better version of yourself.

Our work begins by understanding. We create enough space to see your story, the world around you and what is happening where those two meet. From there, the next step tends to become clearer - and more genuinely yours.

01

Understanding your story

All of us develop ways of being that help us belong, succeed or feel safe. You might have become the capable one, the high achiever, the person who keeps everyone happy, or the one who always has a plan.

The mask that helped you belong can slowly become the face you forget to take off.

02

Understanding the world around you

A lot of modern struggles make more sense when we see them in context. Rather than only asking what is wrong with you, we might also ask what has been happening around you.

Sometimes we blame the plant when what really changed was the light.

03

Returning to yourself

Many of us learn to live almost entirely through thought. Part of our work may involve noticing your body, your emotions and the quieter signals you have learned to override.

The body often whispers long before the mind finally listens.

04

Creating a life that feels like yours

Understanding matters, but the point is not to stay in reflection forever. Over time, insight becomes choices - sometimes a significant change, sometimes a series of smaller ones.

Be the author of your life, not the actor in someone else's.

About George

I know what it is like to realise the life you built no longer feels like yours.

For a long time, I built my life around achievement. I did well at school, built a successful career, and became very good at being the capable, ambitious person who always knew what he was doing.

Then, in my mid-twenties, a painful relationship breakdown led to a series of panic attacks. For the first time, I couldn’t think or push my way through what was happening.

That began a longer process of therapy, coaching, yoga, meditation and asking questions I’d spent years avoiding. Slowly, I saw how much of my life had been shaped by who I thought I needed to be, rather than by what actually felt true to me.

Since then, I’ve left my full-time corporate career and trained as both a coach and yoga teacher. The deeper change has been learning to live without needing achievement to tell me who I am.

I don’t coach from a place of having life solved. I coach as someone who knows what it is like to question the person you’ve become - and slowly find your way back to yourself.

Client stories

“George has a fantastic ability to cut through the noise. He helped me separate what I thought I should do from what I actually want, giving me clarity on the right roles and industries for me.”

Hal, 31

“George helped me find clear direction in my career while strengthening my confidence and decision-making. I left each session with practical actions I genuinely wanted to take.”

Katie, 28

You don’t need to arrive with a clear goal or a perfectly explained problem. You can come as you are.

Perhaps you’re not as lost as you feel

You may simply have reached the point where the old answers no longer work.

That can feel unsettling. It can also be the beginning of a more honest relationship with yourself.
